Broccoli Fry


Broccoli:  The healthiest vegetable
 

 

Broccoli  is known to be healthy and tasty vegetable which is rich in nutrients. It is said to be most nutritional of any vegetable. Broccoli is a cabbage family vegetable.
 
Broccoli is one of the very low calorie vegetable, provides just 34 calories per 100 gm. It is rich in dietary fiber, minerals, vitamins and antioxidants that have proven health benefits.

 

Broccoli fry:

Ingredients:

Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp

Urad dal - 1 tblsp
Channa dal     
Broccoli - 1 head 
Grated Coconut - 1 tblsp (optional)
Chilly powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Oil - 2 tblsp
Curry leaves - 5-6


 


 

Method:
1. Chop the  broccoli, separate into small florets
2. Heat oil in a  pan, splutter mustard seeds, cumin seeds and curry leaves.       
3. Add channa dal and urad dal with a low flame for 2 minutes until the
   dal become crispy.
4. Fry the grated coconut till it turns brown in colour.
5. Add the broccoli pieces, cover and cook for 2-5 minutes.
6. Add salt, chilly powder, turmeric powder and  to it.
7. Toss everything together for another 2 minutes. Do not overcook the Broccoli. It has to remain crunchy.

8. Garnish with grated coconut and coriander leaves.
9. serve hot with roti or rice.
